In many organizations -and especially in tech businesses-, innovation is non-negotiable quality to have. The focus of innovation efforts is almost always targeted at technology, business models, distribution channels. Very rarely the organization and its underlying structure become the focus of those efforts. And yet, this might be a huge missed opportunity.

The vast majority of organizations today, use some version of a management hierarchy to organize work and collaboration. Over the last 10 to 15 years it has become increasingly apparent, that this way of organizing also has severe shortcomings. Especially when it comes to organizational alignment, cross-functional collaboration, innovation, employee engagement and adaptability, organizations based on management hierarchies are struggling increasingly.

But there are alternatives. There are hundreds of pioneering organizations that have experimented with and very successfully established alternative ways of organizing.

Holacracy is one of the most popular and best documented self-management framework available today. Holacracy is a new way of running an organization that shifts power from a management hierarchy and distributes it across clear roles.

In this talk, Patrick will give an overview of the paradigm shift that is happening in our organizational landscape at the moment. He will introduce Holacracy, as a practical and powerful framework, which replaces today’s top-down predict-and-control paradigm with a new way of achieving control by distributing power. You will learn, how this is a new “operating system” instills rapid evolution in the core processes of an organization.
