Color Library – ECAL’s new platform for maximage color combinations

Color Library is a database of color profiles for artists, designers, photographers, and printers. It aims to widen the possibilities of color printing, and reflects on our contemporary perception of color as it is shaped by the recent developments in print production. The platform offers a large variety of color combinations, from basic colors to metallics, neons, and pastels. With Color Library, your images can easily be printed in offset, flexography, silkscreen, risograph or any other printing technology that uses spot colors.

Color Library was initiated during a workshop held at ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne with Franz Sigg (RIT/Rochester Institute of Technology) and Maximage. Originally developed for experimental purposes, the project was extended in order to create an online platform for development and distribution. Color Library is a registered non-profit organization, all income is reinvested in research and development.

Color Library is part of the research project Workflow (2014-2018), an inquiry in printing technologies, carried out at ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne by David Keshavjee, Guy Meldem, Tatiana Rihs, Julien Tavelli, and supported by the HES-SO/University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland.
